Happenings

The website has been adjusted to your convenience. Sorry for the previous difficulties. If you go to the HOME page by clicking on the big Mascoutah at the top, there is a registration form you will be able to print off and fill out. If you happen to register online (which was not previously accesssible because of registration fee payments) then please make certain to bring that with you the day of the race!

Also - please be sure to come out and help celebrate with us while my fellow ROAD WARRIOR, Tami Spellman, re-enlists in the Air Force for her last time prior to running the race!!

What to expect in 2010!

We have a DJ this year to get you going and give you some music to move to before, during and after the race, make some announcements, and make some noise!

I have gotten great response from local businesses and here's looking to some fantastic attendance prizes!

There are still two water stops in case it is a scorcher out there!

Human and street barricades will be on the side streets to bring to the attention the participants on the roads.

Don't forget - there is an Old Fashioned 4th Celebration in the Park following the race!!!

2009 Success

Last year The Mascoutah Meltdown 5K for the JDRF was able to raise $4800 to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation! That says quite a lot about this community and the surrounding communities, the businesses and people in general! Everyone was remarkable and thanks to all for last year's success! I can't wait to see what happens this year for our SECOND annual 5K!

Mascoutah Meltdown 5K inspiration

This 5K fun run/walk was inspired by Justin Haas, a friend of my son Harmon. They have been friends since preschool and Justin was diagnosed with diabetes at 3 years old. Harmon came home one day and said we have to bring a different snack because Justin has diabetes and can't eat sugar. His parents; Wayne and Carrie have been amazing. As a registered nurse it is rare to see the way they have embraced diabetes and live with it and deal with it like there is nothing out of the ordinary.
