A BIG THANK YOU!!!

Thank you to all that helped sponsor this 5K! Without SPONSOR donations, there would not be prizes to give away, tee-shirts for participants, awards for the little ones and yes - there will be awards for the big kids, weather permitting, as well! All this was covered by sponsors and participant fees! Then, all the rest of the proceeds goes to the non-profit Juvenile Diabtes Research Foundation! After all is said and done we are looking at a donation to the JDRF of $4800!!!! Thank you everyone! Thank you everyone!! What a success, and for a stormy 4th of July! See you next year!!!

Mascoutah Meltdown 5K inspiration

This 5K fun run/walk was inspired by Justin Haas, a friend of my son Harmon. They have been friends since preschool and Justin was diagnosed with diabetes at 3 years old. Harmon came home one day and said we have to bring a different snack because Justin has diabetes and can't eat sugar. His parents; Wayne and Carrie have been amazing. As a registered nurse it is rare to see the way they have embraced diabetes and live with it and deal with it like there is nothing out of the ordinary.
